Election violence monitoring program, the program was conceived out of concern that incessant escalation of conflicts that characterized pre, during and post elections were hurting democratic and other economic developments.The 3 previous (1992 1997 and 2007) multi party elections had been characterized by political violence
Pastoral conflicts, the conflicts have been based on control and access of the limited pastures and water, boundary loss of traditional grazing land fields, cattle rustling, lack of alternative source of livelihoods and political incitements.
The students will be working with professionals in the field of conflict management, advocacy and lobbying for peace, reconciliation and dialogue, peace initiatives like organizing sports that unite warring communities, follow up on the truth justice and reconciliation commission work , among others, the student will have his/her work station under supervision of the consultant, assignments will be given, research, in some cases take part in meetings, M & E. At the end of the program the student will be expected to give a report.
